FloBots: Handlebars

9/23/2008

YES! I know that I have neglected the page for a while, but I am putting in a couple of spots tonight to help assuage the imminent riots that are bound to result due to my neglect. Right up there with likes of Cake and the world of the weird comes the FloBots. Rather than going through my usual schpiel of recounting the band's bio, I will instead just frolic in the world of weird songs. We start with some Corky and the Juice Pigs , mix in a dash of Primus , sprinkle a dusting of Saigon Kick , and top it all off with some Stephen Lynch. Chew on that... enjoy it... it's yummy.

Saigon Kick: Love Is On The Way

9/24/2008

For this one, I decided to go back a few years and bring back a gem long forgotten by many. Saigon Kick tends to be a mis-understood collection of music miscreants. Often delving into their darker sides, they have gone as far as to pay homage to Edgar Allen Poe, though hard-core fans revel in their heavier tracks that feature their unique vocal stylings and exhorbantly crunchy guitar work. In the end, as with most arena rock bands, their power ballad was the one to land them on the charts. Thus, their place in many of our hearts and minds holds that niche as true today. Whatever their place, their sound is distinctive, and has never been emulated since. Hence, this spot shall be anchored by them this day.
